Cultivating innovation and unconventional ways of thinking
Role: Group Creative Director
During my years as Creative Director and Group Creative Director at Barbarian, I co-founded and co-lead Barbarian’s Stranger in Residence program, a creative residency to foster innovation and unconventional ways of thinking. We invited artists, musicians, creative technologists, and experimental thinkers to develop new and existing projects by collaborating with Barbarians and using the agency’s space and resources.
Our Strangers
Anton Marini & Hannah Donovan (Trash TV)
Developed a microsite at gifmyyear.com that allows visitors to provide a year-end recap using emojis and animated GIFs in a mad libs style format.
Jon Baken & Brian Tessler (Cool 3D World)
Used face-scanning technology to produce 3D avatars and portraits of over 50 Barbarian employees with Cinema 4D.
Sougwen Chung
Concepted and produced a socially-activated mobile AR application using Unity and ARCore that allowed the public installation of dynamic 3D sculptures crafted in VR using TiltBrush.
LaJuné McMillian
Concepted and developed a live mixed reality dance performance using Perception Neuron motion capture suits to produce visuals of the dancers’ movements in real-time using Unreal Engine.
